Hi Judy
Thank you for taking the time to write your excellent description of Crofting and Farming life in Aberdeenshire .
My gg grandfather was a crofter in Methlick Parrish John Marnoch and His wife Isabel Wilson were on Menteach croft in 1800. Their son William married a Isabella Hay in Methlick church on 23 Oct. 1853. Any connection to your Hay I know Isabella lived in Ellon at one time.
